● FAST FOOD DELIVERY INSURANCE

Fast food delivery insurance that's valid the moment you accept an order

Take one paid takeaway order on a standard policy and your cover is void; on a moped, scooter, car or van, it makes no difference. We arrange hire and reward policies for app riders, in-house takeaway drivers and multi-site operators, priced for the way you actually ride.

  • Hire and reward cover for paid food deliveries
  • Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Just Eat on one policy
  • Mopeds, scooters, cars and small vans covered
  • UK and EU licences, convictions considered

Why your normal policy stops the moment you take an order

Standard car and moped insurance covers social, domestic and pleasure use, plus commuting. The moment you carry a paid takeaway order, you're working for hire and reward, a use that's excluded by default. It doesn't matter whether it's one shift a week or full-time: a rejected claim after a single bump can wipe out months of earnings and leave you personally liable for damage, injury and third-party costs.

It's a legal problem as well as a financial one. Driving without valid insurance for the use risks a fixed penalty, six licence points and possible vehicle seizure under the Road Traffic Act. The fix is a hire and reward policy that lists food delivery as the use, which is exactly what we arrange, on the vehicle you already own.

Platform cover isn't the whole story

Cover provided through Uber Eats, Deliveroo or Just Eat is typically third-party only, and typically only active while you have an order in progress. It doesn't cover you between deliveries, on the way to a restaurant, or for damage to your own vehicle. A standalone food delivery policy fills those gaps and stays valid across your whole shift.

Most policies we arrange let you ride for Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Just Eat under the same cover, as long as every platform is declared up front. If you've already been quoted by Zego or a platform's built-in scheme, we can almost always find a sharper price or broader cover on a like-for-like comparison. Add a new app later? Tell us first, so the cover stays valid.

Part-time riders, in-house teams, multi-site operators

Food delivery work rarely looks like a nine-to-five, so the policies shouldn't either. We arrange flexible cover for riders who only deliver evenings, weekends or a few shifts a month, including short-term and pay-as-you-go style options for seasonal work, and monthly instalments on annual policies.

We also cover the other side of the counter: in-house drivers working for takeaways and restaurants, and multi-site fast food operators running their own delivery teams. UK and EU licence holders are accepted, including riders new to the country and drivers with previous convictions or claims; our panel includes insurers who specialise in exactly these risks.

See all FAQs
Do I need special insurance to deliver food in the UK?

Yes. Standard car or moped insurance covers social, domestic and pleasure use plus commuting. The moment you carry a paid takeaway order you're working for hire and reward, which is excluded by default. You need a hire and reward policy that lists food delivery as the use.

Is the platform's own insurance enough on its own?

Not usually. Cover from Uber Eats, Deliveroo or Just Eat is typically third-party only and only active while you have an order in progress. It doesn't cover you between deliveries, on the way to a restaurant, or for damage to your own vehicle. A standalone policy fills those gaps.

Can I get part-time or pay-as-you-go delivery insurance?

Yes. We arrange flexible policies for riders who only deliver evenings, weekends or a few shifts a month, including short-term and pay-as-you-go style cover. Tell us how often you ride and we'll match it to the right insurer.

What happens if I deliver food without hire and reward insurance?

Any claim will almost certainly be rejected, leaving you to pay for damage, injury and third-party costs yourself. You also risk a fixed penalty, six points and possible vehicle seizure under the Road Traffic Act for driving without valid insurance for the use.

Can I use my own car or moped for food delivery?

Yes, with the correct hire and reward extension on the policy. You can't legally rely on a standard private policy, even for occasional shifts. We quote on the vehicle you already own, so there's no need to switch.

Will one policy cover me on multiple delivery apps?

Most policies we arrange cover Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Just Eat under the same policy, provided every platform is declared up front. If you start riding for a new app later, tell us first so the cover stays valid.
